Our quartets are the ideal choice for events with 200+ guests. These ensembles are also great for situations when the music needs to be featured for either a section or the entirety of the event. Four players allows for a great deal of versatility and customization in terms of how we put the band together. Check out our recordings for some inspiration!

Trio
This is the trio that launched Rum Runners Jazz. Based upon the classic cocktail trios of Nat “King” Cole and Oscar Peterson, this unique instrumentation embodies the very essence of American musical elegance. With the guitar and piano offering both harmony and melody the sound is incredibly lush, and the propulsion of the bass take on the percussion role with aplomb. The music has the unique ability to fill a room without ever being loud. This group is ideally heard with an acoustic piano, and I always recommend this group when there is a piano on-site, but we often perform using a keyboard and the sound is still spectacular.

Duos
The simplicity and versatility of our duos make them extremely popular. There are countless variations on the instruments we can pair together. Duos are ideal of cocktail hours, receptions, and wedding ceremonies. Repertoire includes jazz, classical, pop, and folk.

Solo Musician
Rum Runners Jazz presents solo guitar, piano, and vibraphone. These instruments sound beautiful without accompaniment and take up the smallest amount of space. A solo musician can be a great solution for very intimate events, such as engagement parties, showers, private dining, and wedding ceremonies. Its also great to incorporate a solo musician when your event calls for just a touch of live entertainment. All three instruments can perform in jazz, classical, and pop styles.
We also offer solo musicians to perform along with a DJ. We can collaborate with one of our favorites or work with the DJ you’ve hired to add a touch of live music to the dance set. Sax, Trumpet, Guitar, and Steel Drums are some of the instruments that work well in this hybrid ensemble.

Audio Support
We provide light audio support to many of our clients who have hired one of our bands for live music. Whether someone is looking for a microphone for the readings and officiant to use at an outdoor wedding or a non-profit is interested in having a microphone on hand for speeches we are happy to provide our state of the art system.
On occasion, we will provide this service separate from our live music. The first event pictured is from a very chic charity event held in the Hamptons. The client needed light background music throughout the evening and we provided two speaker systems to provide coverage both on a terrace and in a tented area below. The second picture is of a wedding ceremony at the university club. Here we provided sound for our musicians, vocal and guitar, as well as the officiant and family members giving readings. While our trio moved to an adjacent room for cocktails, the audio system and technician jumped back into action for toasts during the seated dinner.
Our Bose L1 Speaker system is the high-end industry standard. It projects in 3-D and its uncanny ability to blend into the scenery makes it a favorite among photographers and clients alike.
Whether we are provided this a la carte or in combination with our live music our attention to detail and professionalism insures that our clients audio needs will be thoroughly taken care of. If the needs of the event go beyond our capabilities we can absolutely refer to one of our partners in the industry.
